Realistic Sculpture

Statement

Since my retirement from the practice of dentistry, I have primarily done realistic sculptures of faces of people of different ages, races and genders. I have also done sculptures of hands and feet. Each face has its own particular character and natural beauty and I try to capture that in my work. I use Sculpey Clay over a substructure of copper wire and compressed aluminum foil. Because the clay does not harden until it is baked in the kitchen oven, I can work on each piece for many weeks, or longer, until I have done the best I can to express its realistic beauty and essence.
